It is believed that the project takes place around the same time that Black Mesa starts planning the project that will lead to the Combine Invasion. He succeeds in the project which makes Aperture the first science facility to explore the multiverse. Johnson admits that the project was indeed a con plan, and that they are robbing the more-stable versions of themselves to produce more test chambers. The layout of the project is to trick the more financially-stable versions of Aperture by planting blueprints of test chambers on the desks of unaware associates of alternate universes and stealing the chambers when they are constructed. Johnson promotes that the Multiverse Theory exists and that there are infinite universes with infinite Aperture Science facilities. The puzzle maker is very intuitive and simple to use and while it takes a while to figure out how to place things and where things are located, it quickly turns from a “I don’t know what I’m doing here,” to a “How high can I get this ceiling without bumping into that laser beam while still allowing that light beam to work so I can grab this ball as it drops.The Perpetual Testing Initiative is a project administrated by Cave Johnson in the late 1960s as Aperture Science becomes bankrupt. No word yet on whether these test chambers will allow co-op play, but that doesn’t make this DLC any less inviting.

I had a chance to play the Testing Initiative DLC and it was actually a lot better than I thought it would be. Selected puzzles will automatically be downloaded and installed inside Portal 2. The puzzle maker can directly publish maps to the Steam Workshop where users can browse, vote on, and select to play them. The Initiative comes with a simplified puzzle maker that allows that creation of mind-bending puzzles without ever leaving the game. The “Perpetual Testing Initiative” allows players to easily create, share, and play Portal 2 puzzles. Creating a test chamber couldn’t be simpler either. Created by community members, the test chambers are somtimes really simple, but suprinsingly mind jogging.

For those interested in getting out of the usual test chambers and trying out oher puzzles there is no end to the user-generated test chambers. The Portal DLC slated to be released next tuesday promises hours of testing fun.
